dramatization

i'll probably get swine flu just for saying this, but whats the big deal folks? the normal flu kills thousands of people every year! thats why people get flu shots! but people are freaked, clorox stock is rising and people are going crazy. today's news straight from CNN, "boyz II men singer has H1N1" another celebrity falls victim, (insert expressions of shock and gasps to boot). how is this newsworthy people? seriously? do celebrities not get sick? do they not share the same air? i'm pretty sure my US weekly has a segment every week with "stars they're just like us!" so whats the big deal?

i don't care what celebrity gets swine flu or the regular flu for that matter. the only bright side to this is that i am at least relieved that america doesn't give celebrities flu shots before the rest of us measly, regular, ol' folks.

oh just espionage

ok so its been awhile. i may or may not have suffered from what happens to a lot of amateur bloggers, but whatever i'm not too afraid of failure. really i think my life got too interesting that all the normal stuff i had been blogging about seemed lame. regardless i'm feeling inspired.

so yesterday news broke that an american scientist was being indicted? investigated? i don't know what they do, but he commited espionage, or thought he was committing espionage but really it was a sting operation by the fbi. anyways, pretty interesting story as it is. well this morning on the bbc's global news podcast they were talking more about it and they asked a very good question, how did anyone know to target this guy for a sting operation? like who decided to approach this guy and offer him money for satelite infomation? i don't know much about espionage and how it usually gets instigated or whatever, but it does seem kind of messed up to approach someone and offer money for what may or may not be all that delicate of information. but i digress. the guy they interviewed said that espionage is, i guess, a more common thing for middle aged men, like its a symptom of a midlife crisis. weird!

this, of course, got me thinking about all sorts of weird things, like is there something comparable for women? or does female espionage happen at some other time for women (the mars return or whatever happens at 28-29)? i'm definitely in need of more research on this topic.

an update, attached the article above and am now totally disturbed. not only is this guy some sort of genius in a midlife crisis, but also a total sucker! he's probably gonna spend the rest of his life in prison for "attempted espionage" and all he made from it was $11,000!!! thats the worst midlife crisis ever!

fresh air

i tend to believe that blogging is dangerous if you've been in bed for a week with very little human contact, as such i have not blogged for nearly a month, eeks. instead i've gotten hooked on mucinex, ondemand movies, and crochet (oh puns!).

anyways i really wanted to post a video from the lovely rachel maddow show about bush senior's birthday sky-dive and w's super classy puke joke, but alas i was too late to grab the clip, perhaps i will continue trying. it reminded me of how sometimes at the end of a bad relationship we look back and glaze over some of the bad stuff when really hindsight should give us the wisdom to accept how bad things really were. presidential barf jokes.

i'll try to get back in the swing of posting, but with a disclaimer that i have a vacation and post-surgery patient to tend to all within the next few weeks. july perhaps? we'll see.

oh the guilt

i did not vote in today's special election. bad bad sunshine!

i will say that this is partly because all my news sources spent the last few days reporting on how people just vote no when they don't know what they are voting for. if sfgate had posted the measure explanations three days ago instead of three minutes ago, i would have been one of the super cool and smart people that took a stand about something to day.

but not me.
instead i ate at burma superstar and it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g! the tea leaf salad really is a party in your mouth. it was so good that i kind of feel like i should shirk all my responsibilities and eat there everyday.

the dude that gave the ok
